Thanks to my colleague at the NY Map Society, John Woram, the map pictured above was published in 1678. He notes that Tierra del Fuego is labelled Magellanica, meaning that it was created from sources post 1520.
Your "Mission Impossible, if you choose to accept it", is to find Juan Fernandez Islands discovered in 1574 and Diego Ramirez. found in 1619. If anyone can find the button for Enlarging the Image, send me an email!

Ah, the anticipation of the sailaway party...
It used to be about packing outfits. Now the airlines don't make that fun any more. So...better to work on the body I take with me, not the luggage. Off to Spring Lake Dental Care where Dr. Ciampi cares for my fangs. Then into the city to visit the magic hands of Dr. Michael Jacobs to revitalize the rest of my face. More fun than chocolate.

Sharpen the pencils
Last year was examining the history of ancestors in The Netherlands before their voyages to Nieuw Amsterdam and Fort Orange. This year is experiencing a sail on the high seas myself transAtlantically. What better way than HAL's new flagship MS Nieuw Amsterdam, sailing from Florida April 3rd. Looking forward to meeting the Dutch officers who will take me behind the scenes of running such a great ship safely, but with elan!
